Re: Frankie Dettori
I was shocked to read this, but there is always a time to go. It was a secret dream of mine to see him ride one or
more of Enable's offspring, but this will not happen now unfortunately.

Hello,
yes, it was reported in the German Racing community, Frankie Dettori is retiring from racing.
Maybe it's a footnote in his Jockey Career, his first "Derby" win was in Germany, in 1991 with "Temporal" (Surumu - Theresa
by Zeddaan),
regards, Bettina

Re: Frankie Dettori
I don't mind dealing the opening hand and saying that Dettori's riding moved the game on. I saw Steve Cauthen ride but not until later did I really understand how good he was - not just the clock in his head, but the balance, the latent energy, being at one with the horse. I saw Alan Munro and I'm not sure if there were other reasons he didn't go on, but his style was supremely American (I won money every time Gary Stevens came to Ascot....) Dettori's got that.
Re: Frankie Dettori
Frankie, like Mike Smith, is getting along in years, but is absolutely capable of competing against the very best. His opening round volley showed he know's what he's doing on the American scene. IMHO

Re: Frankie Dettori
Frankie Dettori will look to continue his remarkable farewell season when he rides Arrest in the Derby on Saturday.
The 52-year-old, who is retiring this year, won both Group One races on Friday, including a seventh victory in the Oaks on Soul Sister.
It means Arrest, trained by John and Thady Gosden, is now favourite for the 244th Derby, with Dettori seeking his third win in the famous race.

I saw the program yesterday and it was breathtaking, Emily Upjohn has such a turn of foot, unbelievable another great horse by Sea the Stars.

Re: Frankie Dettori
it seems to me that the runner-up in this Derby is again a big outsider, I've seen many Derby's but this is often the case. Is it because of the track? Carlingford Castle was second to the mighty Shergar in 1981. I was listening then to the radio at the office (nothing else) with the chief editor. So long ago, wonderful memories.

Hope he goes out with a flourish. But wise to bow out now I think...
