Saratoga 2023

Is having a rough meet. 3 on track fatalities is hard on everyone. Of course handicappers who bet on White Abarrio are happy right now. You know Dutrow is. Was anyone else surprised when he got his trainers license back and that he seems to be getting pretty good horses already?
"The rewards, whether for winning or for losing, offer almost irresistible temptations to race a two-year-old more times than are good for them." John Hay Whitney at the annual testimonial dinner in October 1963 for the Thoroughbred Club of America

The industry could not have picked 2 worse stories - the beloved Mel losing her live and the accused doper Dutrow winning a G1 after 10 years in racing jail (even if he was somehow innocent). All of the media narratives are rivited in place. And so many regular folks can't bear to watch it all.
