High Fly Work

Postby ZiaLand » Fri Apr 22, 2005 8:38 pm

I got notice of a work on High Fly today that showed he ranked 21 of 21 works at that distance (deleted the info by mistake so I can't post the time and distance). Is this a sign of an "issue" arising with this Derby contender, or could it be just a work strategy being employed by his trainer?

Hasn't this very talented colt been undefeated to date?

Zito ran Noble Causeway about that fast on the same day, both extremely slow workouts. Bellamy Road's was the same way. He talks about the strategy on BloodHorse- apparently one of his Derby winners had a dead-slow workout right before the race and he's hoping the scenario repeats itself :)
High Fly is not undefeated but the only race I know he didn't win is the Holy Bull (3rd place).
