Is Better Talk Now registered black?

I thought he was dark bay, but never paid attention, since I haven't "followed" him.

Thanks.

Registered bay, believe it or not! Really should be dark bay/brown....maybe his foal coat looked lighter.

I thought he looked black in photos, myself...but seem to recall changing my mind after seeing him on TV. Pretty horse, either way.

I have a hard time distinguishing the bay from the dark bay/brown on lots of horses. It also depends on the season and sun exposure. And they change a little over time.

It seems I remember seeing pictures of Empire Maker when he was a yearling and not believing I was seeing the same horse as the Derby contender. He became really dark over time, but was a medium bay as a yearling.

Thanks for the info. Guess I can't add him to the list of registered black Thoroughbreds.
