Who says you need to handicap?

Postby Keith » Sat May 07, 2005 4:03 pm

As much handicapping that I did I asked my 3 year old son who he liked and he picked Giacomo. I had a win ticket on him making up for really liking Bandini. I had a win ticket on Closing Argument and Giacomo. I really did like Afleet Alex but who would have thought Bellamy Road would finish off the board. That extra 1/8 th of a mile makes a difference. Giacomo is a nice horse who beat Wilko in the Hollywood Futurity running second to Declan's Moon. Closing Argument beat High Fly in the Holy Bull Stakes two races ago. It was a tough race and who would have figured Bandini would have run so bad. Interesting Giacomo has no Northern Dancer or Mr. Prospector breeding and he should help attract attention to Macho Uno a half brother to Awesome Again the sire of Wilko and Ghostzapper. Macho Uno is a half brother to the sire of last years Horse of the Year and by the sire of this years Kentucky Derby winner. Congrats to Giacomo.

good for you, Keith!!! Maybe your son has a future as a handicapper...
I liked Bandini too, but I think he ran his race before they loaded in the gate...
Yay!!! The quest for the Triple Crown begins!!!

I've been lurking here awhile, had to laugh. I followed all of the derby preps, looked up the genetics, read diligently here and elsewhere. Chose Flower Alley as a long shot (and for funny cide's dad - disjointed humor) and Afleet Alex, the feel good story.
My son, on a whim, bets $5 on Giacomo and $5 on Closing Argument, each to win. :) The $250 he won is nice, just wish he'd boxed an exacta!

Just read there were two winning tickets at $864,000+ each.
So many pedigrees...so little time. (C)
