After the preakness is run some TB will regress and will need a rest.
Why are some TB tough as nails and others regress?
The reason for this is called hybrid vigor. If the TB that ran in the Derby came out of the Derby and were tired and didnt come back like they were before they ran in the Derby, these TB will run a bad race in the Preakness.
These TB might look super on the outside, but on the inside the Derby took to much out of them.
Its the trainers that have to observe these TB and make a decision to run in the Preakness or wait for another day.
This is why TB that are tough and have super super health and hybrid vigor will run a good race in the Preakness.
