Louis: Do you have any news on Cozy Guy? The following was reported in the 7/10 issue of the HP barn notes...
Trainer Dan Hendricks reported that Cozy Guy, who beat Lava Man in the California Cup Classic last October, is battling for his life. "He came up sick at Bobby Mitchell's ranch," Hendricks said of the 4-year-old gelding. "He's got a liver ailment. He's got some toxins in his system. We've given him tests, and it doesn't look good at all. We're doing everything we can to try and save him. He ran against Lava Man five times in his career and beat him every time."...

Dan Hendricks is now at Del Mar, I will phone Dan and find out the current condition of CG.
Most liver aliments respond to milk thistle, I will talk to Dan about this remedy.
CG was one of my favorite TB, as I used go by his stall and talk to him.
What impressed me about CG was his strong bone and underpinning, a magnificient TB.
I'll find out about CG and will post it later. Thanks.

I just talked to Dan Hendricks at Del Mar and Dan said CG is doing real well right now. Watch for an article in the DRF in 2 days as they are going to do a story on CG.
Class TB always beat the bad rap, as they are fighters thats what make them stand above the rest. May you have many more days on this earth CG as I will see you when you come back to Santa Anita, Be Well.

Glad to hear that CG is doing better. Had a problem with my very unfamous (but very special to me) OTTB this past year. It was recommended I put him on Omega Alpha Equine Liver Flush which includes milk thistle. Have to say I was dubious at the beginning, but he has changed alot since he's been on it, so I'll agree about the milk thistle. Don't know specifically what it did, but he's a happy, healthy chillin' kind of guy now...

Milk Thistle cleans the toxins out of the liver and will bring back the liver to normal. Milk Thistle is also know as Silybum marianum its botanical name.
Humans that have liver problems will benefit from using MT to rebuild the liver, especially heavy drinkers.

From DRF:
Cozy Guy's condition improving
Cozy Guy, the winner of the California Cup Classic last October, is no longer being administered fluids intravenously and is showing improvement from a liver ailment that has threatened his life, trainer Dan Hendricks said.
Cozy Guy, 4, has been hospitalized at the nearby San Luis Rey Equine Clinic since the first of July, when he was stricken for an unknown reason.
Hendricks said Cozy Guy remains under constant care.
"He's kept his appetite," Hendricks said. "He's producing glucose, but not as much as we'd like or as much as necessary. We're trying not to put him on anything. He's still at the hospital and will remain there as long as it takes."
Earlier this month, shortly after Cozy Guy was hospitalized, Hendricks feared that the gelding's life was in jeopardy.
"We didn't think he'd survive this long," he said. "To have him do it is great."
