Thanks for posting the pictures. He is one of my all time favorites.
Still looks pretty much the same as I remember from seeing him at Belmont.

Just out of curiosity, I'm assuming he's sterile but intact right? No reason to geld at the point they sent him in for ease of handling or anything is there? I figure he's gonna be how he's gonna be at this point--though I'm sure it affects some--and as we all know Forego and John Henry became soooo much warmer and fuzzier as geldings

He's still intact. He was pretty laid back when I saw him last year. I don't see any reason for gelding him.

Last time I was there, he was acting very intact. I asked one of the women in the barn what the reason was for leaving him intact, and she said that they still do 2 test breedings a year "just in case". He's not a bad guy by any means, but he's all boy and he knows it. :)

Yeah he's intact but still really good for a stallion with all that activity around. BUT DON"T TOUCH HIS HEAD. LOL. And he means it too. Too bad their little pavilion thing is so dark. Hard to get good photos of him there.

I got to touch his neck and give a quick scratch. He wanted to scratch me back with his teeth, but he was very nice about it. He's a character, and I'd send the old boy a bushel of carrots if the news ever breaks that his swimmers decided to swim instead of tread water. Hey, anything's possible!

Cigar

I worked for Bill when we had Cigar, awsome to have the chance to be around horses like that I remember watching him gallop in the morning, you'd see and hear other horses coming down the track, but you never could hear Cigar's feet hit the ground, "the horse had wings"

He still looks great, makes you wonder what would happen if those little guys started swimming all of the sudden... wonder if there would be a mad scramble to fill his book or if people would wait a year and see what happens, Would be interesting I am sure.

Cool, I'd not heard that before.

Anyone know why he's head-shy? Or is he just aggressive about his head? I saw him in his paddock a few years ago and he seemed to exude intelligence.

I'm just opining, but I would think *most* horses don't like *strangers* just coming up and reaching for their head. I think that is a natural reaction for any horse to either pull away or be agressive/protective of their territory and themselves.

He probably feels like an animal in a zoo, with all the people, at times.

Knock on my door when I'm not expecting you... :x   There are days I contemplate hanging a sign that says, "Trespassers will be shot!"

If I ever have my own place, there will be a sign that reads "Tresspassers will be shot!"

I guess I present myself to horses differently - they rarely toss their heads for me, and it's usually if they've been ear-twitched.
