Dirt or turf? The American Racing Manual would be a good place to look. Off the top of my head I am 99% sure that Dr. Fager still has the mile record (since equalled) and I'm 100% sure that Spectacular Bid holds the 10F record set at Santa Anita. 6.5F is held by Sabertooth and it was set last year at Emerald Downs. I imagine that Double Discount still holds the 10F record on turf set at Santa Anita on the downhill course. Secretariat holds the 12F dirt mark of 2:24 set in the '73 Belmont. I believe Hawkster holds the 12F turf mark set at Santa Anita down the hill. I would imagine that the 6F record was set at Turf Paradise but I don't know for sure.

For anybody with an urge to seek me out some trivia, I'd love to know how long a Man O' War record lasted before being broken. The amazing thing is he never really got extended much except for that Dwyer. Didn't War Admiral beat his daddy's Belmont or something?

Oh and about Dr Fager's mile, looks like he's still the American record holder by .04 of a second. I guess maybe they figure with possibility for error it's about the same but I dunno, I'm no timer.

Najran was the one to equal Dr Fager's record.
