Mellanie entered again at sand.

Postby BenB » Wed Nov 28, 2007 12:10 am

Next Sunday Mellanie Surprise is entered in a bottomdown handicap race
9,5 furlong at sand. 18 in
The track is shaped like a square with 4 very sharp quarter benches.
To be placed or better the horse has to be on spot right from the start.
The straight to the line is some less than 2 furlongs.
As her dam did quite well on this surface we give it a shot.
Her younger half brother is also in at the same card gooiing 7,5 furlongs
7 in Condition race for 3 yr olds who has not won after the first of july 2007.
All turf tracks are closed in this time off the year.

Track very heavy deep off track weather storm and plenty of rain.
Finished 8 of 16. Hampered twice. Finishing on the worst part of the track
the inside which was about soup or pudding whatever you would call it.
The best place was in the middle of the track the nrs 1 till 5 came from there.
Thanks I am home, tomorrow I give the trainer a call how she is.
The mud was I her nose aswell every where else she looked liked a kind of yellow chestnut after the race.

Sounds like tough going...but have faith...it'll get better.

She came out well, did not eaten up completely sunday evening. Was out in the pasture this morning and everything seem to look okay.
The track itself was as worse as the BC meeting. It was the worsest weather I'd ever had on a racemeeting.

That bad weather and shortness of time hindered me to see Mellanie and you (Neuss racetrack is just 43 miles from my home) .

You must run in front from start to finish to win such a race and 9.5 f under these conditions is like some 10.5+ f on normal ground - looks like well over her best distance.

Any thoughts on her mating in 2008?

Parlo: we need advise about her possible mating, as tb racing is over and out in our homecountry.
The plan is indeed get her covered in 2008. But not before half or at the end of april.
I start to look out for an sire with a real motor (engine) at his back, because THAT IS MELLANIES weakest point.
At the 16th of december she will go again to neuss distance 7.5 furlong
this is a full 2 furlongs shorter and we think this might suit her better.

Looking for a sprinter / miler: Martillo ("huge machine") at Zoppenbroich Stud, Mönchengladbach, or Toylsome at Erftmühle Stud near Bergheim (Cologne)?

Let's think about it with some patience.

Parlo: we also like to see a good use of the sire,s hindlegs and not a stiff one.
Main concern as racing is devalueted in our country seriously, we are on the look out for a good border place.

Mellanie will race tomorrow at Neuss (Ger) sand 7,5 furlongs 18 starters.
The same track as an fortnight ago.
Draw startbox 2 for the first time since a yr
When this does not work out properly she wil come home, either selling her or get her covered.
She is blacktype placed in (ger) and blacktype winner after all, no vices quaranteed sound not ever got or needed bute or lasix or anything else.
made about 20 starts up to now. Absolutely straight and correct.

Champ 2 yr old in our country 3 wins in a row

The result was worse she could not follow at all, most surprisingly to us all.
So we are quitting with racing as this is not good for the filly nor for us.
Ended 10 or 11 th from 14
