Since it was Oaks Day that's where eyes, attention and posts were focused. But not mine.
Back in February of 2007, I gathered up some horses of racing age, along with my "lucky" sister, and toddled off to Fasig Tipton to "learn" to put horses through the sale. It was bitterly, brutally cold and the sale was pretty dismal. We sold two but the two Indiana bred fillies came home. I later sold them privately, but retained 10% interest in them.
This one, K Lynn, Hip #422 http://www.fasigtipton.com/catalogs/2007/0211/422.pdf
made her very first lifetime start tonight at Indiana Downs in the 4th. She ran VERY green, quite bewildered, made a late charge and got 3rd. We had the TRIFECTA, which paid $197. Plus I got $135 to put against my training bill for my two year old filly, who is with the same trainer. K Lynn didn't bring a $1K opening bid at Fasig Tipton, and cashed a check for $1350 in her very first start.
BTW it is a bit of a thrill to see your own name in the race program for the very first time.
