Postby majxmom » Tue May 26, 2009 12:50 pm

My partnership gelding, Daniel Moon, is entered for the first race at Delaware Park on 5-27-09. Yippee! And knock wood!

He was named that because he was from Malibu Moon's first crop of KY-breds. Daniel Boone = KY, etc. Thanks!

Good luck! These are the fun stories, right up there with the foal pics. Look for a positive first outing and keep the updates coming.

He ran a great second, running NINE furlongs in his first start, and gaining on the winner, a Michael Matz trainee at 9/5, at the end. He should run even better on dirt, I think, as his dam has no turf winners. A little fussing going into the gate, but he broke well, assumed a stalking position, ran on at the end, and galloped out well. :D :D

Very nice for a first time out. He'll run better for it next time I bet.

that sounds like an excellent first start. All 3 of my partnership fillies ran 4th or 6th in their first, and their general demeanor was roughly: "Huh?"

Thanks, everyone! I can't wait for his next start. I may have to fly out there and see it in person.

Daniel Moon wins a turf MSW in his fourth start!

Postby majxmom » Sat Jul 25, 2009 1:13 pm

Daniel Moon put it all together today, winning the third race at Delaware Park. He's run a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in his previous starts, but was beaten less than 2 lengths for 4th last time, so he's been knocking on the door. Today he was very professional: loaded well, stood in the gate during a long load, jumped out early to clear the bend in the turf course from the 1 hole, then settled and rated nicely, powering to the lead and going on. The 40-year-old virgin no more!

In the race were two Giant's Causeway colts, a Smart Strike, a Medaglia D'Oro, a FuPeg, a Friends Lake, an Empire Maker, a Rahy, a Lemon Drop Kid, a Runaway Groom, and another Malibu Moon. I believe Malibu Moon's stud fee at the time that DM was conceived was less than $7500.

:D :D :D
