Potential 'Freak' Making First Start

Postby justinnich » Fri Feb 12, 2010 6:28 pm

Our filly Much Rejoicing is making her first start on Sunday at Gulfstream in the 7th. She has worked like a lunatic and makes it look easy, and she's managed to turn some heads already. I can safely say we haven't had a first time starter that appeared to have this much potential in a long time, maybe ever. Here's hoping she's as good in the afternoon as she looks in the morning!

Hey well done! The best part is that it was such a workmanlike performance coming from off the pace and digging deep. HRTV mentioned that she was a $400,000 sale horse, is that correct?

Thanks thanks! Couldn't have asked for more today...and I'm glad if you had a little bet on her Strategic. Wouldn't normally be one to talk about a horse quite the way I did here, but man we came into this pretty confident, so I hope it paid off for ya! To be honest, I was shocked we got 6-1, but all that money on Pletcher's horse worked for me

Wilf, yeah we bought her for 385 back in '08 when the economy was still somewhat an economy, haha. We spent the last 2-3 years trying to build a broodmare band through buying some nice yearlings with pedigree...looks like she just jumped to the head of the class!

Looking at her pedigree I now think that she may have already justified her purchase price with a simple maiden win. Distorted Humour out of a fantastic Breeder's Cup winning mare in Soaring Softly ,she looks like a bargain and if her action on the dirt was not that smooth then wait until a grass race shows up. I for one cannot wait!

You can bet I had a bet on her! Her breeding is wonderful and as I've said before, you've got a wonderful trainer. I can't wait for her next start.

She was given a 79 beyer so no complaints there first out. I'd imagine she won't run again til late March or early April to let her come back from that as well as possible, but I also don't think we saw everything she had yesterday. She had dirt thrown in her face for the first time, so she got a little unsettled early, but Trujillo gave her a perfect trip and didn't rush her. Anyway, I'll post about next target once we set one...I think this could be a fun year with her!
