Blazing Away Qualifies for New Mexico State Fair Futurity

A 2YO colt we bred, Blazing Away -- Diabolical x Blazing Bartok (Bartok) -- has qualified for the New Mexico State Fair Futurity after running third in his trial race on Saturday, 9/10. This was his second start.

Unfortunately, we only get a paycheck if he wins, though we still own his dam so sure wouldn't kick about a stakes place...if that's in the cards.

The Futurity (which turned out to be an almost $200K race) didn't go well for Blazing Away ("Zinger"), but this was only his third start and he was in against some pretty tough competition.

He drew an outside post and got packed five wide around the turn, but on the bright side his jump out of the gate was much improved (he was the first one out instead of last) and his finish looked a lot stronger than his first two starts when he simply ran out of gas in the stretch.

I'll try to see if I remember how to post a photo. This was from his first start.
