Stable Watch

Postby Jeff » Mon Jan 14, 2013 8:32 pm

Received a Stable Watch notification my mare's 3 year filly did an official work a couple of days ago. Very exciting because I figured at almost 18 hands tall as a 2 year old that she'd be to big of a horse to make a runner. Hoping she proves me wrong! She'll certainly have the stride on em if the race is long enough to open up and get the train rolling.

Buy a stick your filly is a few hands away from 18 hands

She's not my filly, I don't own her, but my mare is her dam, and I'm vicariously have a grand old time hoping she does well on the track, and also her 2 year old little brother who is also galloping in California.

And no Sylvie, she's not a few hands away. Zinn has a yearling filly by the same stallion, he can vouch for the height.

I was mistaken, the race is today, not yesterday! Salsa Cat in the 2nd race at GG. Her first race and at a 1 mile distance, going off at 15:1 so far.

If she gets her super long stride working at that distance, she could slay em. :D Loaded up my TVG:wink:

The foal in the photo is her 2 year old colt,, I think he is brown or black like his dam. Salsa Cat i'd call dark bay or brown. Thank you !

Good luck to Salsa Cat's owner/trainer and breeders.

They are absolutely gorgeous!! Lucky you. Wish I could buy that mare from you.

Hey, did we talk one time about my leasing a black mare from you? I spoke to someone here on the forum about leasing a black TB well bred mare that was in the CA OK Texas area as I love the Dixie Union stallion thats at Lanes End Texas named Grasshopper and he nicked great with that mare and my mare, but she's in Lexington and I'd hate to have to ship her down and then turn around and come all the way back up. Thank you.

I had to clear my personal message box and I lost who it was....

ps: what the name of the 2 year old colt? I'd like to follow him also.

Jeff that filly ran a big race for her first start. She has a really nice way of going. She obviously needed the race. Don't be surprised if she pops her next start..

This is my first black TB mare, so wasn't me. I do love the black horses though, would love to see your black mare's picture and pedigree.

Zinn,

She looked pretty nice; the big giantess rolling/ stalking the outside rail. I'd call that a good experience first start, and oh the possibilities. :)

"SALSA CAT The latter was four wide to the backstretch, tracked to the second turn, rallied three wide to the stretch, pushed to a short lead in mid stretch but was tiring in the final sixteenth."

A little demonstration of speed there in the stretch, next time she just might get it. She had a bad start out of the gate and rallied from 2nd to last to gain her short lead in the stretch. Catch ride for the Jockey, watch out for next time out! :D

4 wide; 3 wide-hard to win when you give up that much ground on the Tapeta. She ran a very good race.
