Looking for a start in the next 7-9 days going NW2. There's one or two at Indiana and one at Churchill. We'll see what fills and goes. I could back her up to six furlongs at Churchill because of that looong stretch. She is a serious stretch closer and the real estate after that turn is a big deal for her.

The racing gods have a Great Sense of Humor - the 7-1/2 f on the grass at Indiana, on its third go round on the overnight, would not go despite having 11 entries; the other at Indiana had one horse so we ended up in the relatively short field of 8 at Churchill tomorrow stepping up a bit in class. My lovely Penny seems loaded for bear. Seeing the trainers of the other 7 I need my really Big Girl Pants on for this. The sixth race the number three horse.

Well kind of a rough trip she got bumped and jostled but is a Gritty Filly she came back after the rider had to check her and roared up at the end to get 2nd by 1/2 length. The double up of the class (from $16K to $30K horses) did not phase her at all.

Congrats on a great performance! Just saw the video on the Churchill Downs site. She had a really nice late kick!

Yup that was CJ's first ride for me and won't be his last. Talk about making your own hole on the rail.

Well the racing office at CD hustled me to enter Witticism back yesterday and she ran a good race after a bit of a rough start got 3rd by 1-3/4 lengths and just missed second... and was claimed from me for $20K.

I'm sure you hate losing her. But you did a nice job with her and turned a profit. Maybe you can get her back down the road.

Ugh! Nice run, but sorry you lost her. Maybe you'll have an opportunity to get her back.

Philosophically it turned out all right. The trainer that claimed her is reputed to take pretty good care of her horses. When Witticism was pulled back out the hole she charged out to the outside and then she checked herself pretty hard before switching to her right lead. At that moment on the rail I felt this was probably her last race (that left knee) and her cavalry charge was not really at full strength. As Altanbarr said, I turned a nice profit. She earned $18,620, and I got $20K for my $1400 horse.
