Here is my colt from yesterday. It'll probably by January before he gets his first start but he's coming along.

His name is Fenix by Birdstone out of a Peintre Celebre mare. He's being trained by Donna Taylor at highpoint training center in ky.

What a small world! I'd never been to highpoint except to drop him off, when it was after training times. We went up for a visit this past weekend and it was so calm up there watching him and others work.

k so runners... Miss Pinkerton led a thrilling race last Saturday and got squeaked out at the end to get 2nd in the 5th at Indiana Grand..

Sunday Stormy Memo takes on a pretty stiff group of 11 other 2 yos at Churchill in the first. Queen Maxine has been improving in her dirt capabilities and will take on a field of 11 in the last race which really will be a tightener to get ready for Turfway. Stormy Memo may come home for the winter after this start since there is just no money for her at Turfway and she is a Much Nicer Horse than that. Depending on how she runs and comes out. Maybe will look for one more start before Churchill ends. Max and Miss P will go on to Turfway both fillies having very good poly capabilities.

Fenix came up sore a few weeks ago, did x-rays and his knees are still 20% open. Vet recommended 3-4 months off then re-xray so he's back at the farm. Hope everyone else is have a little better luck with there trainees.

We're horseless at present after Endless Thyme was claimed December 29th. So we're in watch mode right now. We've got just one left on the track that we bred (got out of breeding...again) but he hasn't shown much in recent outs after a pretty nice string of 2nds and one win in state bred allowances earlier in 2018.

For now, we're just cheering on multi-SW A Bit Special at Gulfstream (posted a separate thread on her).

Good luck with yours, Madelyn.

And mehigh, I love the name Fenix for a son of Birdstone. Best wishes with him!

Thanks I thought it fit with his dams name and all. I just hope people don't think I'm ignorant of its correct spelling. It is at least the old English way of spelling it so not exactly incorrect and with the regular way being a retired name I'm just glad they let me squeak it through. He is his usual sweet self but not really enjoying his time off. I'll be glad when the vet gives him the green light to return to training.

Miss Pinkerton is what one of my friends calls "a very peculiar horse". She got the break, she got the hand ride she's needed, and she dug in and got the win. She was in the winner's circle for all of 1/2 minute, photo snapped, and off to the test barn. She's been to the test barn before - when she ran 3rd in her first out in MSW. It's a nicer spot to cool out for sure. She is very much herself, no changes in her character after the win. We'll see if we can get that kind of effort next time.
