Countryman's first race 4/9

Postby SymRanch » Thu Apr 07, 2005 12:27 pm

Countryman is a full brother to our stallion, Five Eighty Four.

Since Five Eighty Four ended a promising racing career way too early due to an ankle injury, we're really anxious to see how this boy can do!

He's entered at Aqueduct on Saturday:

Race: 3 Distance: Six Furlongs Surface: Dirt Age: 3 Sex: Colt
Race Type: Maiden Special Weight Purse: $41000
Jockey: Victor Espinoza
Trainer: D. Wayne Lukas
Race conditions: (UP TO $7,790 NYSBFOA) FOR MAIDENS, THREE YEAR OLDS AND UPWARD. Three Year Olds, 118 lbs.; Older, 125 lbs.

Hope, he will be safe and sound after returning home. For the race: all the luck both of you can get, and hopes for a nice outcome.

How exciting. Is he going to receive also some of that good NY bonus money?

Well... Countryman was 6th, but at least he had a safe trip. There was a pretty nasty incident in the start gate, and one of the horses had to be scratched. It's always a little nerve-wracking to watch so many first-time starters.

Really nice horses in the 1 and 2 spot. An Alphabet Soup son named "Record Buster" and a Vicar colt named "Chastise" who gave him a run all the way to the wire. 6f in 1:08. A fun race to watch.

Hoping Countryman learned a little and picks up some speed for his next outing!

Sounds like a good start, just not a paying one. Something to build on.
