Hi,
I know this is a true longshot, but I'm trying to locate trainer Roger Clapp's wife. She was an exercise rider for Mr. Clapp in the 1970s, and among the horses she rode was Crystal Water.
Mr. Clapp has since passed on. A few people at Santa Anita that I've spoken with remember his wife but they don't recall her name or if she's still involved in racing.
Again, I know it's a real longshot, but if anyone knows her/about her I'd be indebted. Thanks!
Roger Clapp's wife?

You're right... a real longshot.
I did look up old records and deduce that he last trained in 1989 and last won in 1988.
I'd like to have a list of many of his runners on the off chance that a study of them would at least reveal his wife's name as the listed owner.
He's known mainly for Crystal Water, which was owned by Connie M. Ring.
Heck, maybe someone in her family would be able to supply you with a first name for the wife, in the way of a start...

Thanks so much for looking into it, JimbleBrimble. I very much appreciate your time.
I've tried calling some 'old timers' at Santa Anita and, while one remembers her, no one remembers her name.
I thought of the Ring family but couldn't figure out how to find her possible family members (I think Connie died long ago). I'll call Santa Anita and ask about her, too, or maybe CTBA knows who might be left from her family.
Thanks again!

The web, and particularly the Santa Anita press guide on the web turns up that trainer Richard Mandella used to gallop horses for Connie Ring, so perhaps you should try to contact him to ask for details about Roger Clapp's family.
In fact Mandella could be well before Roger Clapp's time with the Ring family, but even if that is the case, I'm sure he knows where to look or suggest.

Thanks! JimbleBrimble, I called Richard Mandella yesterday and he couldn't help with any information on remaining Rings, but he thought Roger's wife was named Judy.
And now CA Michael backs that up - it's a start! Thank you both, so much!
There are several Judy Clapps in California nowadays, according to whitepages.com...so here I go...
Thank you again!
