reading a tatoo

My horse is -Simi Go Easy - I want to get a hold of his records - like did he really ever race, why and when was he sold, is this really the same horse as the one in the pedigree? I am having a hard time getting him to let me see the tatoo # on his upper lip. So far i can only get : F245. Are there any tricks to this??? I bought him from an friend of a friend etc. for $500. I was told he was trained quiet and laid back. Well he was half trained etc, but he is only 5 years old(b-day 4/28/02), and laid back, well sorta. So i really don't know he past and would like to. thanks in advance for the help.
