I am trying to read a tattoo on a gelding, wanted to do a search to figure out who he is but not sure I am reading it right LOL
looks like a C43599 or could be 043599
any suggestions? Thanks for any advice you can give

What's his approximate age? If the first letter's a C, that'd make him a 1999 model. An O would mean he was foaled in 1985. That should narrow it down. :)

Thank you

That does help, we were told he was 6 or 7 but I am thinking that he must be a 1999 LOL (Lip Tatoos never Lie He He He)

Well, is there any chance it could be a G? That would make him six...

If you're planning on calling the Jockey Club to research the number, it can't hurt to try both possibilities - you only have to pay for the one that matches. :)

The teeth ought to give it to you straight, as there is quite a difference between 6 and 10, teethwise. At 10, Galvayne's groove is pronounced and starting down.

Hi, I just happened to have a bit of time and was cruising some old posts. I believe that it was just after the time of your post that the Jockey Club made Tattoo searches free. On the JC Interactive site there are some very good guidelines for the lighting to try to use as you try to read tats, or to try to photo the tat. If you are not totally sure the JC will give personal help, using markings, etc. to help identify the horse.

Your thread just ended and I don't know how your old search ended up. Maybe you are done now, or maybe this is old news to you, but I thought that I would throw this at you, just for ducks.
Regards,
