Mare Grave Locations
Another thread got me interested in this. I posted the fact that Sun Beau, Hill Prince, and Imperatice had grave markers on Chris Chenery's Meadow Stud in Doswell, VA. I wondered where the gravesites of the Blue Hen mares of Somethingroyal and Hildene were located. I've gone to the TBHeritage site and found no information. Anyone have a clue?

It is apparent that Somethingroyal was buried at Meadow Farm, but the grave is unmarked.
Here's an interesting article by Steve Haskins on the 35th Anniversary of Secretariat's birth. He interviews some of the Meadow Farm grooms.

Oh no....Secretariat's mom is buried on that property with no marker???
And they are going to make a fair ground out of the former Meadow Farm.
We just had that very same thing happen where I live; a beautiful farm was demolished to make way for the 'new fair grounds' when there really wasn't much wrong with the old ones.
Our old farm where we had our horses buried when they got very old was demolished and made into a condo/townhouse village. I hate to think that our horses were probably dug up.
I remember reading about a famous horses grave (on Find A Grave for animals) that now is in the parking lot of a store, but they kept his marker up. Can't remember who it is.

Somethingroyal is buried in a private cemetery on property that was once part of The Meadow. It is not accessible to the public.
The cemetery at The Meadow:
Omaha's grave was paved over. There is another in Maryland but the name escapes me at the moment...
