Yes - those are great photos and unless your niece is very petite I'd say he looks to be good sized for only being 48 hours old.

Congrats!

Thankyou everyone

Just wanted to thank everyone for all the nice comments...I sent the pictures into our racing news magazine .....dont think they made anything special (no cover ahhhh)except maybe the foal announcements ....but thats ok, the moment was a priceless one. Did I mention our niece is going through some rough teen years and we brought her here to find herself??? Now we see her every weekend and they say she is starting to improve, so now you all know how special these pics really are.
She named him Rocky, and wants his race name to be King of the Hill....but we think it may be copy righted. Hey if anyone writes stories maybe this will later become another National Velvet story you think  Again thankyou everyone.

Tammy - perhaps your neice could start a journal about her time spent with "Rocky" - and her feelings - and that could help her work out some of her issues and write about her feelings towards him and how he changes each time she sees him - and how he grows - make it a project for her to measure him, etc.... and buy her a special book for the project. Just a thought - anytime a teen can put their thoughts on paper AND have a purpose AND responsibility helps them alot in my opinion. Give her a hug for me will ya!

I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiment that horses have a way of reaching inside troubled/at-risk teens. I was one of em a long time ago! Now, I have a vision of having a youth ranch for this age group, (12-18) partnered with a rescue. The kids help heal the horses, the horses help heal the kids. There are a couple of these around the country, and I hear they are doing wonderful things.

Mercy: When you don't get what you deserve.
Grace: When you get what you don't deserve.
