New Colt, more bling, pics too

Postby Bondama » Fri Apr 20, 2007 5:31 am

Hi all. Meet our new addition, a colt born 4-11-07. I'm late posting about him, but I've been awfully busy!! His dam decided to have him in the middle of the worst rain and lightning storm we've had in a very long time, early, around 9 pm. We got home from church about 9:45, and went out to feed around 10:00, and found them both at the hayring. Mom was munching hay like "no big deal" and the baby was standing beside her, nursing away, drenched in the rain also like "meh, whateva". We're calling him "Noah". I'm leaning towards a registered name of King's Rain. A little play on words there. Okay, so the dam is Nottingham Lace, a 17 hand Whitesburg daughter, now 23, and this is her last baby. He's a nice one. He appears to be a red dun.....he's very, very red. I thought first palomino, but he's red all over, and I don't find any flaxen in his mane or tail yet, so who knows. He's flashy - 4 white socks and star. Dam is a chestnut with 2 white rear socks and sire is our perlino AQHA/APHA. First picture, he was like 10 hours old. The rest, he's 2 days old. And I dunno...is it me, or are his legs awfully LONG?? My others' legs weren't this long.

Int he just the cutest thing? I'm in love all over again.

That first picture angle accentuates the length of his legs   , but he looks well-proportioned in the later photos. Glad the birthing was uneventful. He's adorable.

Quite the eye catcher! You get all the pretty colors - yeh, I get some chrome but I get the old bays and a chestnut here and there :).

Lovely baby! You should be very proud!

Thanks Tammy. Actually, we don't breed APHA's. My stallion is an AQHA, but is also registered with APHA just because of his perlino color. What I breed are dilute appendix horses with this stallion as the sire. My mares are all TB's, and I also have one appendix mare. I also stud him out on select mares to help with costs!
