Last winter I took a flyer and bought Peaceful Treaty outside at Keeneland January, after she RNA'ed for $1K. Looking at this mare's record you might think she was a pig in a poke. But her story was that she had been shipped to a Lex farm to foal and be bred back in 2005. She was in a shipment of mares from a single owner, who failed to ever pay a penny of the bills for his mares. They were not bred back. It took the farm two years to run through the legal system, get papers reissued for the mares, and take them to the sales. They got the mares covered and PT did not get in foal.
It appeared to me that Peaceful Treaty seemed to have had a dead foal each time she was shipped somewhere to foal. She reinforced that idea by totally freaking out (wild-eyed, splay footed and dripping in sweat) after the very short trailer ride from Keeneland to my farm, in January when it was absolutely freezing. It occurred to me that she might also just not get in foal if she had to trailer to/from a stallion, so perhaps she would do okay being bred on the farm to Rocking Trick.
My patience was rewarded in the early hours this morning, when she got an absolutely gorgeous huge bay colt, alive and kicking. She ran the oven for 370 days (a 4/19 cover to get a 4/24 foal). Yippeekayay.

Thanks.. I got down to see some yesterday evening in my wheelchair. I've been putting more and more weight on my foot and actually getting some housework done!!! I've been really pushing the flex exercises to get my heel flat on the floor. I see progress EVERY day. Since my son got his driver's license on Monday, he's taken me out shopping, etc. so I've actually been out of the house and off the farm! I did a good thing getting them to take that danged cast off last week. I am way further ahead.
My husband thinks "Patience Rewarded" is a great name for PT's colt. We could call him "Pat" or "PR."
We are just a bit colt heavy this year after so many fillies. I am getting what I really WANT usually - I badly wanted a colt from Miss Ballet, got that. Her first colt ever after four fillies. Wanted a grey from Valiant Spirit, looks like I got that. Wanted a LIVE one from Peaceful Treaty, got that. So I wonder what the next smackdown will be.
The next mare to foal is little Oro Caliente, and it is her very first, and then we are done until the end of May, since I have sold so many mares.
