Every Once In A While... with pics

Postby madelyn » Thu Apr 14, 2011 9:40 am

I have ONE day so full of joy that it restores my faith in the insanity of persevering in the hard work and tough luck of this business...

Yesterday was like that. My good Sultry Song mare, Smoldering checked IN FOAL with a perfect 18-19 day fetus on a 3/25 cover to Elite Squadron.

One of my boarder mares that we have worked very hard with (maiden, twinned, etc.) who got in foal on first cover but had to have a twin pinched and stuff had a GOOD heartbeat check on the one remaining foal and is set to ship out soon..

And at 9:30 pm my big chestnut broodmare extraordinaire (Glenfiddich Fire) plopped down and pushed out a huge beautiful bay colt with two hind socks and a star, stripe and snip. Despite that he is so tall his butt comes up to my chest, he was up and nursing solidly alone within two hours. Pics to come...

Here is our beautiful boy and his dam, during his first hour in the sun. He is about 14 hours old here..

He doesn't look all that big but the mare is just enormous.

What a good day and he does look big. Won't he be something when he grows into those legs! Congrats.

Very nice! Yeah, he looks really, really happy to be out running around second only to his mom who is probably relieved to have her bladder left alone.
