Anyone waiting for a Grasshopper foal out there?????

Postby erhrdt3 » Sun Feb 05, 2012 2:47 pm

Hello everyone, Hope this finds you all doing great this new year, have not talked to anyone for such a long time and surely miss the forum! (Had MAJOR surgery) Yikes!

Anyway, by some of my old posts, some of you may remember that I love Grasshopper, who sadly was sent by Lane's End down to Texas instead of Lexington! UGH!

I was told by his handler down there that about 40 or so mares were sent down to be bred to him for a 2012 foal. I don't know if it was a convoy of all Lane's End mares?? but they did offer me to put my mare on there if I wanted to breed to him for a very good price. Was not able to do anything in 2011, but this year I hope to be able to keep my eyes and ears open to see where the Grasshopper babies are in KY and check them out. With the inexpensive prices at the Keeneland Sales, etc. I will just prefer at this point to to go to the sales and pick up a couple nice ones.

Any ideas?? I know there is an invaluable amount of info. on this great forum, and I thank you all for your input! Hope you all have a great new year.

Thank you for the good wishes.

Crystal, how are you doing!!! Miss talking to you. How did you find out there are 38 of them out there?

I think at this point its best to buy at auction there at Keeneland, as opposed to the expense of shipping and boarding my mare all the way to Texas.

Does anyone know how I can find out about any of his foals? Photos, etc. or if they are going to be sold?

Thanks again you guys for all the great info and help on here.

If he went to Texas he may not have offspring sell at Keeneland, so you might want to order the sales books for the Texas Sales to see if any show up there. He may also have offspring show up in other states closer to Texas as well. Just a thought ....

He bred 38 mares, I don't know how many live foals he will produce in 2012.. Keeneland probably isn't likely for many of his foals.. I'm sure there maybe one or two, but Lanes End will support the FT-TX sale before shipping them to KY..

email me and we will catch up!

Hi Karen

I've been trying nonstop to find out and still a big NOTHING! I don't get it.

Unless he had some QH mares, then we'd have a rough time trying to find out.

Anyway.....the search goes on...

OH, don't even try to contact the farm, I have several times and got nothing back from them. Thought this was a big farm, thought there would be someone to answer emails, etc. ???
