I found a nice chestnut filly in the paddock this morning, learning how to stand. Missed the birth by maybe a half hour. Already nursing and hopping around. Her name is going to be Cosmic Ocean.

Beautiful little girl. Your mare looks like a good mom.

3 months now- probably have about half a million pictures, but here are the better ones.
Pretty much halter trained already, still learning to hold her feet up for the farrier (me) We chose to do ALL the training ourselves, and I better hurry up with getting a trainer's license huh? Just got the Jockey Club kit in the mail!

Currently studying from the CHRB rules page. Have a good understanding of the "vet's test" already, though I plan to brush up. Need to find a source of vids demonstrating vet-wrapping. I know how to wrap with Polos...but I've never done things like a spider bandage, or a tounge tie etc.

If it is like the KY test (30 page written, no multiple choice, with essay questions) you will study all the racing rules, condition books, etc., and that will only be about 25% of the questions. There are a lot of medication questions not in the racing rules, hay questions, feed questions, conformation questions, etc.
So Run for the Roses, as fast as you can.....

I've heard that the CA test isn't as daunting as the KY- esp since I won't even have to work for a trainer a certain# of years, or hold some other license for an amount of time. I did purchase a "study guide" of sorts, but appreciate anything folks on the forum are willing to suggest. My motivation for becoming a trainer actually came from meeting a couple of CA trainers- after talking with them for some months- I descided if they could do it, I certainly could.

First picture as a Yearling! So excited. I was offered a job at a TB farm in Central California, and of course I took it. Now I have access to many trainers, and of course the owners of the farm- many brains to pick! I get to have my hands in everything- breaking babies, foal watch, keeping tabs with trainers, registering babies etc. So proud to work for the farm that stands the sire of my filly!
