Just got word from the farm we have a colt out of Blazing Bartok born late last night. They said this is the first chance they've had to contact us, they've had so many foals arrive in the last 18 hours! (Anyone else having this happen?)

This guy was due April 1 but decided he would be no fool! :D

The sire is Diabolical. Blaze is stakes placed and a full sister to Euro Empire and other stakes horses.

We'll post photos when we get them!

We no longer own this guy, who we named Blazing Away, but he just qualified for the New Mexico State Fair Futurity in his second start at Albuquerque Downs.

The Futurity is a $100,000-added race and will be run on September 25, 2016.

Blazing Away was still a maiden after his 2YO season in spite of his stakes qual on his second start, but he's starting off 2017 with a 3rd and a 2nd from two starts at Sunland Park. Not to make excuses, but he's a slow starter and ran into traffic on the turn in both races starting once from the outside post and once from the inside. A stronger finish late in each of the races was an encouraging sign. He's currently 7-0-1-4 with $9,600 in earnings.

No breeder's incentives yet. Maybe next time. :|

Handsome colt! Looks like a stakes winner!

That's what we're hoping for Jeff. His dam was twice stakes placed and is a full sister to Euro Empire and Bartok's Bling (and nice enough to be accepted into the Oldenburg/ISH registry).

Fingers crossed that "Zinger" just needs a little more time and maturity to bloom.

Blazing Away finally lived up to his name today, breaking his maiden at Sunland Park in a Maiden Special Weight by 4-3/4 lengths going away under a hand ride. It was a field of 12 and his odds were somewhere in the 12-to-1 range. (Very fortunate outcome really, since the first time starter next to him apparently wheeled at the break and lost his rider.)

He's had a pretty nice start to his 3YO season with 3-1-1-1 and 8-1-1-4 overall. His earnings are up to $24,309 with today's earnings.

Hopefully he'll have a good season ahead of him. :)

And he's in the New Mexico bred program so as his breeders...ka-ching!
