Foaling Schedule, One Down...

Postby Roguelet » Thu Jan 26, 2006 7:04 pm

We FINALLY have our first foal of the year! Mare was due 1/7 and foaled early this morning... a colt! The mare is Fancy Reality and the colt's sire is Colonel Bradley. The colt is a light bay, but I'm *hoping* he turns gray like his daddy!

The rest of the due dates are:
2/8 (Corelate)
3/14 (White Cerf)
3/16 (McGuerty Creek)
3/18 (Creekie Cat)
3/25 (boarder mare)
3/27 (boarder mare)
Mid-Late March should be fun!

Since Madelyn already spilled the beans 8) , I'll say that the REAL first "foal" of the year was a filly, and I beat all the mares! (We planned it that way prior to purchasing the mare that was due 1/7 and I thought she would screw up the plan, but I beat her anyway!)

Oh, and we also have 7 puppies if anyone's interested, born 5 days ago... dog showed up here, camped out, and refused to leave (and believe me, I tried.) She has a collar but no tags, no microchip, no ads in papers, no way to track the owner... just in time to have her litter. *sigh* She's got heeler in her and who knows what else, and who knows what bred her... but they're pretty cute puppies, so anyone who wants one just let me know. (Please???)

Heeler is a breed I'm not familiar with. Describe?
Some people are like slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs.

Sorry... I was using slang.

AKA Australian Cattle Dog

Here's a picture shamelessly stolen from the web, this is not the dog we have, but a pure ACD:

So, how many puppies should I mark you down for?

ha ha I also will "foal" before my mares this season! But I took the easy road and shipped off my earliest mare to KY...

But... I wanted to add... let me know if you have a blue eyed puppy!
I would be interested!

i know it takes forever for the eyes to open when you are waiting ...
I have bred huskies in the past and that is the biggest part.. what color are the eyes? I hate that waiting game!

I really am interested in a blue eyed female.... I am not fond of males since the last one i had always was caught peeing on the sliding glass doors..like he forgot he was outside! duh!

Best wishes to all your new and impending charges, Roguelet!
Our mare's not due to foal till April, and has gone over a year with the first three, so I'll check back with you all in May. Sigh.

So, I assume you've foaled by now... colt or filly?????

Also, just wanted to let you know there appear to be 3 blue eyed puppies in the bunch... one of which is the runt, if you like runts. :)

Is a runt a male dog? I never heard of it, is it American?

By "runt" I just meant the smallest of the litter. The other 6 are all about the same size, and the "runt" is about half the size of the rest.

The blue eyed runt is a male, the other two blue eyed puppies are one male, one female. Karie, you said you wanted a blue eyed female, right? Should I save that one for you?

Anyone else want to reserve a puppy?

(Oh, and to stay on topic... Corelate is at day 359 today, still no foal...)

Schwank hit day 373 today, I believe (was bred last year on Feb 19th). I told her if it's not born in February I'm naming the thing The March Hare!

I have one at 352 and going crazy, I don't think I could wait until 370's!

Having said that EVERY single mare has gone far over, my earliest gestation has been 347, is there a pattern this year or just a coincidence?
