Stall and barn cams for sale - unbelievable *new* technology

Postby TrueColours » Thu May 06, 2010 6:26 am

I was absolutely floored when I saw this camera yesterday - so much so that I am looking to bring in a skid load of them to sell out in the marketplace ...

Here is a picture of it:

Image

I dont believe that there is anything else like it out in the marketplace - in affordable ranges anyhow ...

The bottom half of the camera is literally its own built in computer system so with this unit, you dont need to hook it up to a computer to view what is going on in your stall or on your farm. The camera itself records to its own internal memory system and you can either allow it to operate solely through a flash drive or have it send the data to an external hard drive as well

You only have to be able to hook it up to a power source or one fellow is going to hook it up to a solar source and power it that way. I am waiting to see how successful he is with that project and what his costs will be to do so

You can insert a flash drive in one of the ports which will hold a continuous loop of 3 days worth of data that you can upload to your computer in either jpg format afterwards or in video format

The camera is remote controlled and rotates 360 degrees from side to side and 360 degrees up and down. It also has a terrific zoom lens on it as well. It can also be controlled via motion sensors so as the mare is moving around the stall, or as someone is coming into your barn, it will follow that movement and capture those images. The picture clarity and colour tones are unbelievable - we had it hooked up yesterday and we zoomed it in on a fly that had landed on my fridge in the other room across the alleyway and 30-40 feet away, you could see the details on its wings very very clearly

It is fully infra red and can operate in low light / no light conditions as well

If you have only one camera in the barn, you then also need a sender unit to send the signals from the camera to the bridge unit which then sends the signal to the router. The router can be up to 10 kms away (depending on obstructions) so for those that were limited to that 300' range from the barn to their house, this is no longer even a factor.

If the barn to the house is further than 10 kms but closer than 50 kms away, you would then need 2 Power Stations that will take the signal from the barn and send it that distance

If you have more than one camera in the barn, you will then also need a router internally within the barn which can then support up to 50 individual camera's in that single location

My daughter worked at a Future Shop and I showed her the unit yesterday and asked if she had ever seen anything like this and she said no - she was floored at the technological advancements contained in this camera. As mentioned - there is really nothing else like it out there - anywhere ...

So thats the scoop on this unit as I understand it at this time. I will be putting 4 of them into my barn for the 4 foaling stalls (and you also can mount it in the centre aisle instead and rotate to to either side of the barn so you can capture the movement in Stall 1 or Stall 2 - whichever you'd prefer and only have half the expenditures for the camera) and will also be putting one centrally in the barn that can cover all 3 access doors

If anyone is interested in information and pricing on the cameras alone or an entire package including the sender/receiver units, the bridge units, the Power Stations and the flash drives, I can be contacted at: [email protected] or 519-443-0036

I am just working on a data sheet now that will be attached to my website and will detail the specific technical information on these units. Once that is completed, I will post the link to it here ... :)

Ive got the camera sitting on a shelf in the barn - I havent gotten it set up in a stall yet which will happen tonight or tomorrow

I can connect to it just fine - wirelessly - from my home office but a friend said she cannot connect to it from work, but a lot of stuff is firewalled at work so maybe that is the issue

Can you guys please click this link:

http://192.168.0.99/

and see if you can connect to it?

It will only allow 30 users at a time. Click on JAVA for Camera A, and then you can play with the arrows and make it move up and down and all around and if you see me I will try and wave if I notice the camera heading in my direction!

Thanks everyone ... :)

You will never be able to connect to any 192.168.X.X address from the Internet, that is a private address range used on private networks only.

Yeah - just found all of that out ...

I am going to get 2 of my ports mapped tomorrow so the camera can be linked to my website. In another 2-3 weeks, we'll have a new equestrian website up that will host the cams and have other features attached to it as well

The things you learn as you go along ... and here I thought all you needed to do was push the "go" button to make everything work!!!

It looks like the other test cam is hooked up in his room with his aquarium (it was hooked up outside before so you could see the traffic on the street, etc)

http://s2.cammservices.com:82/actx_cam1f.htm

You can click on the link and play with it. Its kind of boring tonight, but tomorrow when its on outside again, you can rotate it around, zoom in on things and get a feel for what the camera is capable of doing

Mine should be up and running in the barn in the next couple of days ...

There were 804 people watching my mare foal this year. With a limit of 30 users there would have been a lot of unhappy people.

Did you make any progress yet? None of the provided links seem to work.

The Price Is Right just had this webcam as a lower/higher game product and it was $90. What are you going to be selling them for?

Here is the update on this camera

It is a fabulous camera for overall security and for distances as the zoom capability is fabulous on it. So are the details - you could zero in on a license plate of a vehicle in the dark and make out the numbers clearly. I had it mounted in my barn aisle and could fully rotate it to view the 3 access doors, plus had a great overview of all 8 stalls in the barn and could see each of the horses clearly in there.

BUT ... it fell short when we tried to mount it in a single stall, and try to use it as a foaling cam in that stall. I had it mounted on both the wall and the ceiling, about 15-18' up, and it was still much too close to get the proper angles and views of that stall no matter how much we zoomed it out

So - they are fabulous for certain applications, but as a foaling cam for a single stall, it simply will not work and we are now investigating the same style of camera with a wide angle lens and different specs, to see if that one will perform better in this very specific application
