From Her Former Owner...
I am taking everything I know from her former owner, who told me she only raced twice. She bounced around to three different trainers in her short stint on the track, and possibly her former owner didn't even know if she had raced more (she has a barn full of current racers, so she may not have remember who was running when and where). If my information was wrong, I do apologize, but I was taking it from knowledge I had and from her papers.
Please know I don't pay for a subscription to pedigreequery, so I cannot access the more in depth information.
Thanks for setting the record straight, I do appreciate it.

If you're marketing her as a TB broodmare prospect, your price is a bit high, especially for her not being in foal. She has kind of a plodder's pedigree, and that's what she was. Della Jhamela ran in claimers for less than $4500, I remember watching. Her first win came versus a horrible field and she came barreling down the outside to JUST get up to win. Exciting race it was.
The only races recorded on a horse's papers are wins. All the other starts are not recorded on the papers.
The mare isn't all that bad, her dam is a half sister to a couple of racehorses that earned $178K and $203K but not much in stakes horses going a way back. She is inbred 3x3 Mr. Prospector which could be a bit of a negative. Also, the mare is in Oregon which limits her market as a race broodmare prospect. From what I have gleaned lately, the market there is pretty dismal.

So Run for the Roses, as fast as you can.....
della
The Mr. P inbreeding is quite troubling as only a very few (maybe 3) mares have been inbred to Mr. P and later produced a foal that won at least 1 GS. Contrasted to Northern Dancer who has 121 GSWers when he was inbred on the mares side. I would not diminish the fact that Della has "very little" (or words to that effect) Northern Dancer, . as a significant majority of the very minimal success there has been when inbreeding Mr. P also has ND in the pedigree and many times included an inbreeding to him (ND) as well. It's almost as if the inbreeding to ND has saved or at least allowed the inbreeding to Mr. P to be successful. I would actually only take this mare to a stallion who has ND in his pedigree but that also has NO Mr. P. Just checked Goldmine again and there are 3 mares who have been inbred to Mr. P that have produced GSWers - 2 of them were with sires who had ND on both the dam and the sire side (inbred to ND) and the other one had ND on one side only (the sire's side). None of the three won any G1 races BTW. One horse won 1 G2 only and other 2 won 1 G3 apiece.
I think this mare could have some merit and might be worth a look but in Oregon and for 4.5K .....hmmmm. And, she would not be all that versatile and should probably taken only to stallions who fit the description above - Has ND and absolutely NO Mr. P.

Things are no worse than typical here...everyone I know is breeding back, including us. Things seem somewhat stable at Portland Meadows, so there's a regular meet to anchor things. Our market has many stallion options, and that can leave some negotiating flexibility for people with nice mares (especially for stallions with few booked/covered).
Our annual mixed sale is on schedule for September, so it's full steam ahead/pray for the best/prepare for the worst, as usual.

He is our "newest addition", born February 1. He's by Washington sire Polish Gift, out of McCoy (Robin des Pins). And no, we have NO idea where all the flashiness came from!
