Opinions?

Postby madelyn » Tue Jun 20, 2006 7:37 am

This mare has produced six foals to date with her highest earner getting $8,689 in 33 starts. Anyone got an opinion on her true market value?

let's just put it this way...I have much nicer ones that have produced alot better that I have been given. She's not worth a whole lot I'm afraid. One of those trying to sell off the great grandparents type thing. I woudl give her 1500.00 if the mare is sound. I'm sure someone will pay it though...crazy business this...

Her value is probably closer to what was paid for her last September than the $40K being asked now --> Hip # 102

Still, she's from an excellent family, and even Procida is tolerable. The biggest concern is her production record, especially the recent "not mated" years, including this year.

I doubt she'd bring a bid at a sale with an upset of $1,000 if she went through open.

There's an awful lot of hype, not to mention hyperbole, in the Comments. For example, I wonder how the fact that she was Breeders Cup nominated is supposed to help her as a broodmare?

Do you think "spin" like that actually persuades buyers to spend $40,000 for what, by all appearances, is a failed broodmare worth less than $1,000...?

this person has a couple of ads, one is for 20K with some interesting claims of future progeny success.

I was thinking Afleet Alex#1 Fan should make an inquiry before the price goes up on these fine animals.

That's an idiotic asking price. Nobody in their right mind would pay over 1k for that mare.

But the price does include express shipping (it sounds like she'd be on the road to you as soon as the check clears).

Would like to know who the stud is. Only Hennessy and Rahy are listed for $75k. Even if I had the stud fee, I doubt they'd take my mare. So it might be better to wait till she is bred. But then, I wonder if they'll still include the express shipping? :D
