Wanted - TRUE BLACK! TB mare ...

Postby TrueColours » Thu Oct 05, 2006 3:06 pm

Okay - I am going to take a stab at this one and see what responses I get back!

I am looking for a very specific type of TB mare. MUST be a true jet black (and NOT a dark bay/brown!), over 16hh (the taller the better), hopefully under 10 years of age but will consider something a little bit older, good mover, excellent conformation (something that you would want to breed yourself!), breeding sound AND ***MUST HAVE*** a white face and 4 tall stockings (not 2 stockings or 3 stockings but *4* stockings!). And obviously JC papers to go along with her as well. It cannot be a TB cross - it has to be a 100% registered TB mare ...

If anyone knows of anything that would fit that bill, I'd love to hear about them!

Please email me off the board - [email protected]

Many thanks! :)

Hi Donna,

I'm just posting a link to a stallion for sale ad, because he has the coloring and marks you want, even though he isn't a mare. He's beautiful, though!! Just sharing.

Donna, there used to be a Halo son in California named Hell Bent (I think I sent you his stallion ad once).. you might try to track down some of his fillies. I can't seem to find numbers on him so he may have died before he actually covered mares though.

You're welcome.

I just double checked Brisnet and it looks like they've finally listed some foals. They have him with 3 foals for 2001, no starters. I think he may have been registered dk b./br. but I'd say there's a good chance he was black and I'd have to think he passed some of that flash he had on.

Also... Kissin Kris has one black filly, a 3yo named Krissin Angel. Iowa bred. Last start was a win going 8f70yrd August 19th out at Columbus for a $5k tag. 4th straight win, all at that level. Prior to that, she has a handful of 4th/5th place finishes. She's a bit of a gamer now that she's figured out what she's suppose to be doing. I've not seen her, but she's registered black and KKris has a knack for tagging his get with some chrome. Not the really high, dramatic stuff, but they carry colour. She's got Explodent on the bottom, too, so I'd say the chances are good she's got colour.

Just did a quick google search and found this. Just type in "black thoroughbred with white socks for sale" and see what comes up. Good luck!

Thanks again Sam - I'll follow those up!

And thanks Phar Lap - Ive seen the filly that you mentioned and as much as I would love to have her, I cannot afford or justify the $30,000.00 price tag on her! She has much more value as a lovely, potential show horse right now, unfortunately ...

Once I do find this magical animal, I will be sure and post some pictures! :D

Dalene has Snow Boot Dancer, black with 4 socks and a blaze. Probably not for sale though. She is by Prince Stanley, of course.

stacy - I agree!!! Great sleuthing Sherlock ...

But - the 15.1hh mare was getting close but WAY too small at the 15.1hh height

And the other simply dont have the markings I am looking for except that stunning Ari mare but at $30,000.00, for a broodmare, no way unfortunately ... :(
