Looking for sound OTTBs must be sound

Postby Rubytuesday » Wed Jan 10, 2007 8:35 am

Hi
I am looking for a couple of Tb 16hh and over. Perferably within Ontario or close within the US.

Not the expensive ones, just the ones who did not do well at the track and are looking for another career.
My daughter is doing Hunters and she would like another OTTB.
No vices and sound and slightly sane is perferred.
Thanks

Check the CANTER site for the New England and other horses - tons of nice OTTBs there! Here's the link: http://www.canterusa.org/newengland/

Both 8 year old bay geldings, both 16hh and both up for adoption in Ohio through New Vocations. One is for $600 and one for $400. Not bad considering they both have a considerable amount of training already....

They usually have beautiful horses, but I'm not sure if Ontario is out of their adoption range...?

You probably already know about these sites, but I thought I'd list them anyway:

Of course, as with any adoption site, you'll have to weed through a lot of horses to find ones with the criteria you've listed. There are plenty of tall and/or reasonably sound horses, but ones with a suitable hunter look and talent will be harder to find. Did you need trained horses or are you planning on doing the retraining?

Bayponys has a few really nice horses that may fit the bill...

Not positive if they would adopt to Ontario, the FAQs page does note that adoptions can't be west of Kansas, but no mention of how far north or south.... Might be worth a shot, especially if adopting two, they may make an exception. :)
