4-6 Horse "Box" Van for sale-$3500-New Pics

Postby shanova » Wed Jan 02, 2008 6:17 pm

We have decided to sell our Horse Van as we no longer travel with our horses the way we use to and really have no need for it anymore. Actually, I think we have used it twice in the past 24-30 months. I can't see it simply wasting away when someone could possibly get much more use out of it than we are.

The box is great, roughly 8 ft high X 9 ft Wide X 20 ft long with adjustable wood dividers, interior lights, electric outlets, opens on both sides with one solid door & one split door, double doors on back open up the entire width of the box, ramps come complete with sides for loading which is great protection just in the event of that rare case. Stall dividers are 1-1 1/2 inch solid oak, as is the floor. Outer covering is aluminum. There are also storage boxes along the bottom of the box. The over length is possibly 28-32 ft. I'm pretty sure it has dual gas tanks, yes, it is gas and not diesel.

It is an older model and the 366 engine has been completely rebuilt (overhauled) with less than 2,500 miles on it since then. 5spd transmission with a 2 spd rear end.

Sorry about the incorrect price...my husband is gone quite a bit and I copied & pasted what he had......

We have a few pictures of it and are hoping to get more over the weekend. If by chance we do not get pics this weekend it will after the Keeneland Sale before we will be able to get them.

Thanks

FYI on the Horse Van

I might add this bit of information on the horse van....I would say with a great degree of certainity, my husband would be willing to seriously consider a partial trade on this van for hay

Below are the 3 pics we currently have - 1) of the exterior(hood does set flush, antifreeze had just been double checked & not closed properly) 2) odometer, and 3) of the box interior without the stall dividers.

More specific pictures will be taken of the exterior, underneath-frame, flooring, etc, the box interior with & without the stall dividers, cabin interior, and anything else we may think of or is requested.

If interested and you would like to see pictures of anything specific or would like more information/pictures once available, please email direct @ [email protected]

how many box stalls will it break down to? Are their single dividers as well. Ramps both sides? how long have you owned? Why selling?

Thanks

6 stalls - 3 front & 3 back

I am not sure I clearly understand what you are asking about regarding single dividers...there are removeable post that connect to the ceiling & floor interior that secure the dividers. The best way I can desribe the dividers is to draw a rectangle, draw 2 lines to divide the rectangle into 3 parts, the lines represent the dividers you are able to remove as needed.

Ramps are not attached to the van they are are under the van and can pull out from either side

We have owned it for close to 3 years using it mainly to transport our mares from Ohio to Florida & back during the breeding season.

We are selling as stated, we do not have the need anymore nor do we use it as we did and there is no need for it to simply sit around when someone could get much more use out of it than we are. It has only been used a few times in the past 2 years and always, without any problem. To us, it doesn't make good sense to just haul one or to horses in it; a trailer would suit our needs much more than it would have before.

It makes into 5 standing stalls...correct? How many BOX STALLS will it break down into? 3? Do you have the floor to ceiling gates for the box stalls? Or just the 1/2 walls?

Just an FYI.....

We will be going completely through the braking system over the next few days. He will be replacing all lines, changing fluid and most likely the wheel cylinders to ensure there are not any hidden problems. This will not affect the price.

I've heard several horse van discussions over on COTH; there seems to be quite a few people that have an interest in them and lament that they are so hard to come by in the states.

There aren't any buy/sell classified ads or listings on the forum site, but the actual Chronicle of the Horse print rag has an active classified ad section. The ads may also appear or be available to post on the member site, but I'm not a member so can't say for sure how that works, or how much it costs to place ads.

Might be worth looking into if you can't get it sold here or elsewhere. It's a pretty different market, obviously. But the nostalgia and european appeal might move it to a sport horse person, etc, that has been looking for a van. Good luck!
