I'd agree with that assesment.
If the Ped Query info is correct and she's unplaced that's a big negative when coupled with the fact that she's by pretty much a zero of a sire in Wheelaway.
On the plus side she sold for a big price for a Wheelaway as a weanling, so she might be a looker, and her dam is a stakes winner whose been a decent producer.
But really it's such a buyer's market for mares right now that if you're willing to spend a few thousand rather than a few hundred you can do lots better.

i'd have to say $1,000 - 2,000. Her dam is a stakes winner and stakes producer. So she may have a lesser known sire - hardly the final nail in the coffin. She sold well as a youngster so I'm betting she must have some looks.
rats, looks like i just copies Hold Your Peace almost word for word... sorry 'bout that!

You could definitely find a buyer for this mare for more than $500, given that she's out of a stakes winner, and a half to a good stakes-placed colt as well as a couple 100K earners...second dam has a lot of good black-type, too. Problem with this mare is it's the absolute WORST time to buy an off-the-track broodmare. As a previous poster noted, you would have to wait till spring 2010 for the mare to produce anything, and fall/winter 2010 to have a weanling you could sell and recoup some investment. If this is a big, good looking mare (being by Wheelaway it would not be a surprise) and you ran her through a sale tomorrow, she'd probably fetch anywhere from $1,000-$2,500 (my guess...$1,500). Certainly not a bad mare by any stretch -- there are a lot worse out there producing foals -- but you have to run the numbers, determine how much money you'll spend between time of purchase and time of the first foal, and figure out if it makes sense.
I will follow up by saying my estimate was based on her being racing sound. You might get her to a better trainer and find softer spots. If she continued to race and won, her value would change. It's a completely different economic scenario - retiring now as a BM or buying her to race on.
So Run for the Roses, as fast as you can.....
I know this mare's 2nd dam - Snuggle Bunny! She was purchased either at an Arkansas auction or privately and brought back to Texas to be bred to Fire Maker. She was up in years then but made a VERY nice looking foal for her new owner, though the filly did not do anything of note at the track. This is a youn mare with a decent female family - not great but decent - and if this mare brought a good price as a yearling, is a big good looking mare then she ought to throw a pretty decent first foal - so I think the $1500 - $2500 range is about right for her as a broodmare.
Are her two starts limited because she wasn't showing any ability to win or because she had some physical issues that suggested she wouldn't hold up to racing?

It looks like she ran just a week ago at the bottom at Mountaineer (Md 5,000) and was 6th. I don't know how many total starts she actually has but it doesn't look like she has any ability much. If they can sell her for anything at all now, that makes a lot more sense than spending thousands of dollars a month on her to keep her racing.
