Check out the bloodlines:

Here's one of the threads:

Both are apparently sound, healthy, and NEED homes ASAP. Farm is closing.

I would love to take the Stage Door Johnny horse. He's a half brother to Stop the Music and Hatchet Man! What a grand old guy he must be!!

what's he been doing all these years?

and sadly, I can find zero successful SDJ sons at stud. He was a broodmare sire all the way, it seems.

Apparently, he hasn't bred a mare for several years, but has been used as a teaser. The other "younger" guy has bred in the past 5 years, though. Basically, the farm owner just sold the facility, and all horses must go by the 15th.

The OP has found temporary housing for them in order to have time to get shipping arrangements made, and coggins are being taken care of ASAP. I will take one here, if need be, but I am 1022 miles away. If no one else steps up who is closer, or REALLY wants one or both, then I have no problem taking one or two in. There are people willing to pitch in for shipping...it's a very nice effort on the part of a lot of the COTHers.

Check the thread and contact the OP, if you're seriously interested. They sound like very nice, deserving old guys!

I would die for a horse like Broadway Jester, no matter what the age.

Can you imagine a 1/2 brother to both Stop the Music AND Hatchet Man who also happens to be a son of Stage Door Johnny being available? I promise you, he's coming home to me if I can manage a way!!

also, the broodmare sire is Tom Fool, making this the same cross as Late Bloomer and Late Act (out of the super producing Tom Fool mare, Dunce Cap)

If you're going to die - who's going to pay the shipping?

He is so closely related to my two favorite mares, one passed, one living, it makes me want to cry! I read the update on COTH.

And they're here!!

http://www.four-leaf-farm.com/BroadwayJester.html

http://www.four-leaf-farm.com/ConcordesFuture.html

They're settling in well, and I think with a little spit and polish they will be looking really great! Jester is a big chunky, and may have Cushing's, or it may just be a bit of stress and need of a good grooming. Concorde could use a few pounds.

BOTH are easy to handle, respectful of the fencing, and all-around good old boys. I can keep them here for as long as need be, but ideally new homes before late October would be great. Pass the word...they really are great, deserving old guys.

Well....both guys are heading to a home just 120 miles from me!! They decided after some deliberation to not only take Concorde, but also to take Jester! They are going to work with their vet to get both guys collected and evaluated for fertility, and they'll go from there!

It's actually a very neat story from start to finish: I contacted several TB farms in IL when I knew the guys would be headed this way, and these folks had expressed an interest. Ironically, enough, the hauler who brought the boys here picked up a pony at their place right before he dropped the boys off here. They said they realized the stallions were THE stallions when he told them he had two stallions from the east coast on the trailer, and they got to pat them and visit with them before they even arrived here.

They knew they wanted Concorde right away, but were concerned about Jester, because he was a sweaty mess during the trailer ride and for the first day here, but he's settled in REALLY well. We talked last night, and they spoke with their vet, and they may pick them up as early as this afternoon!

I am actually already having a hard time, as I am totally smitten with Jester already, and I really want to keep him, but I can't do him the justice that they can. I like Concorde a lot as well, since he's SO adorable and sweet, but there really IS something about Jester that just makes you adore him and respect him...he's an amazing old guy, and I know they both have lots of life and vigor left in them. This whole thing makes me very happy!

I'll post updates once they are settled in their new home, and if anyone is interested in finding out how the fertility testing goes, drop me a line, and I'll pass along contact info. :)
