Broodmare in foal * Placed!

Postby Jessi P » Wed Dec 01, 2010 3:51 pm

I am in a hurry so if I dont think of everything please ask. I have a full broodmare report that I can email with dozens of race horses in her first 2-3 dams.

My Twilight Dancer is a 13 yo Twilight Agenda mare out of one of Claiborne Farm's stakes winning, graded stakes placed Nijinsky broodmares "Shimmy." She is in foal on one heat cycle, bred 2 consecutive days, to Pride of Burkaan, currently #8 on the Ohio leading sires list. http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/ ... neral/ohio

Mare is in foal on one heat cycle, was bred two days in a row and was ultrasounded in foal at 21 days and again at 45 days. Her Suave foal was born on April 27, 2010 with a simple delivery (altho she delivered him standing up) and she is due at approximately the same time next year. We skipped foal heat and short cycled her with no issues.

We got the mare from a bankruptcy situation, which is why her 2005 E Dubai foal and 2007 Include colt were never put into training. I have never met the previous owner.

Her Suave foal is lovely and she is an excellent mother. Her foals are large and correct with good temperaments - the Suave colt is a little on the fiesty side.

The mare does have a winner from 2 foals to race. The 2008 foal was working at Churchill in October.

Pride of Burkaan was a 3x stakes winner, and Multiple GSP, finishing 2nd to Cigar, ahead of Mahogany Hall in the Gr 1 Gulfstream Park Handicap http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skhHvWGRR5w

Note - on the BH sire list it incorrectly lists Pride of Burkaan as pensioned - he was moved to WV and is standing here again for the 2011 season.

I took the mare because I wanted the foal in the belly, and bred her back so that she would be easier to place (an open mare is IMPOSSIBLE to give away these days). We have 3 new horses coming in tomorrow and got one new one in Tuesday - we need the stall space at the farm, she has to get moved. She was placed once already but that person suffered an injury and wont have the income to keep another horse. Her foals are tall and good looking, she would be great as a sport horse broodie. She is approx 16-16.1 and a good stout mare.

Here is a link to the first picture in an album of pics of her 2010 Suave foal. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid= ... .607138338

I will post more pics when I have a little more time, I just wanted to get this out there. ;)

Any questions feel free to ask or email!

Jessi -

Is her name by chance My Twilight Dancer & not My Twilight Agenda?

I'm having trouble finding her.

I thought I was losing it. I read your post five or six times and still didn't get it. I checked the pedigrees and got lost. She is beautiful and has a very nice pedigree. I wish I had some room, but I don't. Hope you find a super home for her.
