She hurt her left front ankle in that race - two chips almost big enough to be considered non displaced fractures. She went to her racing owner's farm to recover (he ALWAYS rehabs before selling or rehoming his OTTB's). From there she was given away to a "broodmare" home; the new owner never bred her and quit paying her board after a couple of months. After a year or so, that farm sold her to Karenkaren; I picked her up there, retrieved her papers, tracked down her last listed owner, got the papers properly transferred and sent them on to Karenkaren. She is being boarded with me until she gets in foal, or is sold to go elsewhere. She will be bred soon (we are working on a date for her).
So Run for the Roses, as fast as you can.....

Karen: I've been following this thread closely. I agree that she is a very good looking mare. Along w/her race record, not only is she attractive, but she has a very nice pedigree. It is apparent that you did your homework. I wish you the best with her.
That being said, I was wondering why you decided on SONGANDAPRAYER? Did you get outside advise or were you personally aware of similar matings that were productive. Was there anything about this particular stallion that stood out over others at or around the same stud fee?
I've got no agenda here, I'm just interested in your thinking on this mare. I kind of wish she had crossed my path when she first came available. She exactly the kind of mare I favor. Also, seeing what is going w/the "well bred stallion thread" it might be safer to move any reponse to the "Pedigree Analysis" Board or you can PM me. Thanks.
