Mares for sale/located in PA

Postby KBEquine » Tue Jan 31, 2012 4:02 pm

We are hoping to get a few mares out of our muddy pasture & into someone else's breeding program

We have had 30" ABOVE average rainfall this year. Even the hilltop pastures are knee-deep in mud.

A couple of my favorite broodmares & potential broodmares are on the below list. Most are good regional broodmares or prospects; some could also be commercial.

I respectfully request all communications to be via PM because I am willing to entertain a wide range of offers from the right person(s) as the goal is to decrease the number of mares slogging through the mud. (And if I only know you as a screen name, I'll probably need to ask questions to make sure you are one of the 'right persons.')

The mares are located in Pennsylvania & are in the mud, so not under lights.

Kittykitty Flys By, 2004 ch m by Victory Gallop out of Miribilla by Lord Avie.
24 starts 2-5-3 $39,710 About 15.2 hands.

Wins at 7f and 1 1/8 mile at Charles Town. Later showed an affinity for distance & grass, until she hit a hole in the track during a workout at Penn & bowed. Her dam's 1/2 sisters are graded stakes performing & producing, one of whom produced $1.4 million earner Great Hunter. Middle to top of pecking order & no vices. Maiden.

Turbulently, 2002 b m by Langfuhr out of Severeturbulence by Far Out East. 37 starts, 2-4-3 $28,262.

Wins at Penn and Monmouth on dirt but her last trainer said she seemed to prefer turf. Her only foal is a 3 y.o. filly by Ecclesiastic (the filly is bred on a War Front-type cross – sire is War Front’s ½ brother and Turbo is by War Front’s sire-line.) Turbo is 15.3, the top third of the pecking order in the herd, no vices.

The filly is race-y, with a compact build. She is also available.

Strawberry Patch, 2002, gr/ro m by Sundance Ridge out of Strawberry Gogo by Fiestero (CHI). 5 starts, 1-2(2)-0 $25,786. A hair over 16 hands.

Patch won a maiden special weight at first asking as a 2 y.o. & was twice stakes-placed (regional stakes at Suffolk Downs) that same year then had bad racing luck & a knee injury. Her dam was an iron horse with 133 starts 23-36-17 $151,797. Her one full sister also was stakes-placed at 2 & both full sisters are significantly taller than she is, between 16.2+ and 17 hands, so size runs in the family. She has had 1 foal, a 2008 colt by Cherokee’s Boy, who has not started through no fault of his own. [If he was younger, I’d list him as available for racing.] Patch has no vices & is toward the middle of the pecking order.

Patch’s unraced full sister, Go Dancer Go, 2007, ch mare, who is 16.2+ & still growing, is also available as a broodmare only (her dam stepped on her as a baby, injuring her knee. No vices, high in the pecking order.

Dial An Imp, 2007 dk b/br mare by Devil His Due out of Slewzy Floozy by Slew City Slew. Unraced. Cribber. Imp is unraced, around 15 hands. She is out of a ½ sister to the dam of millionaire sprinter Fabulous Strike. Her dam, Slewzy Floozy, was the better-running sister, 44 starts, 10-7-2 $120,502. Imp is a sweet mare but very low on the pecking order and would do well in a small herd of non-aggressive mares or an individual turnout situation. She is not thriving in the mare herd & we don't have an available stall.

E Mail Pat, 1998 b m by Farma Way out of Dance For Hoss by Rahy. 45 starts, 7-6-6 $162,065, of which more than $160k was earned in turf races. She established a course record at Laurel at age 7. Pat retired sound, no vices, is around 15.1 hands & the middle or a little higher in the pecking order. Her only foal (filly) was caught up in an ownership issue & never got to the track, again through no fault of her own.
