I also recommend you get a "BB" gun

I seen many horses set back on hot walkers and the easiest way to get them going again is with a BB gun or a Blue Heeler

hat was it Forrest Gump said about being called stupid ?

It wasnt a stupid reply by Griff. Some horses want to stop the wheel by not walking so in order for them to start walking again u get a BB gun and hit there rump with it and they start walking again.

Yikes. I would be afraid of bb pellets breaking the skin and getting lodged. A lunge whip or a dressage whip seems like it would work just fine.

Our horses have tougher hides than KY horses.

If I wanted to use a lunge whip, I woud put them is a round pin and woud not need a hot walker.

If you use the BB gun long enough all you have to do is shake it so the horse hears the BBs in the chamber and they will usually start again..

Stallions are especially bad about stopping the walker dead ever time you look away.

After you shoot one a few times all you have to do is rattle the BBs or pick up the BB gun. All horses will learn to stop the walker - and will do it. Griff is 100% right, to use a walker you will need some way to keep them walking. I once had a walker without a motor that worked fine walking horses as long as my border collie was around. Most of you nimrods would rather try tying a carrot in front of the horse, instead of listening good advise.

casalic

Blue Heelers also do a good job. However, we once had a stallion named Big Excitement that seemed to enjoy kicking and kicking at my dog. But then Big E was a real bad-ass and also enjoyed killing chickens.
