Very nice mare for sale - an opinion

Missy Warfield, by Big Country out of Myrtle Irene, by Commemorate.

I think she looks like her daddy, an winning AP Indy son of champion Flanders. http://www.foaltrack.com/FoalDetail.asp ... lected.jpg

Her dam was the very talented and small Myrtle Irene, a 1/2 sis to Canadian 2 year old champion Dauphin Fabuleux. Bred by Donald McClelland, Myrtle Irene won 14 of 42 starts, five stakes raced, and more than $713,000. It appears that she had a very troubled reproduction history though... bred 12 times, she has 6 named foals, including a 2009 Noble Causeway colt named Mistaken!

Missy Warfield was bred by the ill fated businessman George Brunacini, whose Bana Terra Farm bred Flower Alley. He was killed in a plane crash. http://breederscup.com/bio.aspx?id=10161

She appears very attractive and balanced to me, and I'm a sucker for those chestnuts!

Did I mention her dam was very accomplished on turf?

Reasonably priced at $2,000.

Interesting. I've seen a few Big Country's at some KEESEPs and was usually impressed by their physicals.

The female fam here is pretty decent too.

IMO, save your money. $2,000 goes a lot further in the market than this.

e.g, for $2,000 I just bought at the Fasig-Tipton Feb sale a young daughter of Silver Charm from a Grade 3 producer by Storm Bird. This mare broke her maiden at Keeneland in a MSW and her first foal is an allowance winner of $40k. She's in foal to Cactus Ridge, a decent young horse, and is a gorgeous gray mare.

Bargains can be found anywhere if patience is exercised.

nice shopping, Barc!

Are you bothered about the 3 empty years? I back away when I see those unless there is an explanation.

I think empty years, in this economy, might have been by choice. You would have to order a report and see if the mare was covered at all to use it against her...

Pregnant mares entered for sale at Keeneland and Fasig Tipton are usually entered "stud fee paid" or "pay from proceeds" - but under no circumstances is the purchaser ever liable for the stud fee. It is paid by the seller, period.
