Breaking/Training Yearlings

Postby Altanbarr » Fri Aug 18, 2017 8:37 am

Any recommendations for breaking and training a yearling located in KY. Not averse to shipping to Florida or South Carolina but I think I would prefer a smaller operation, rather than larger. Don't want to get lost in the shuffle.

I used Shawhan Place for my last one. They are in Paris, it was reasonably priced and they did a great job with Echo.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will follow up with Shawhan Place.

Hi -- might I make a plug?

Virginia has started a "Virginia-certified" program starting with foals of 2016.

If they reside in the state for six-months at a participating farm before the end of their two year old year, they will be eligible for owners bonuses when they race anywhere in the Mid-Atlantic region, including NY.

This could have a nice benefit whether you are planning to keep and race or sell.

More info is on the VTA website, www.vabred.org

I can recommend a farm that I have used in the past if you are interested.

I've had very good results with Eagle Point Farm in VA.

Here is the Link
