Looking for an OTTB stallion

Postby smilton » Wed Jun 22, 2005 7:52 am

I am located in the mountains of VA 5 hours from the nearest track. I don't have any contacts at the track so it has been difficult to find what I am looking for. I am looking for at OTTB stallion bloodlines are not as important to me as conformation and temperment. All he needs to be is pasture and breeding sound. My goal is to cross him with a few of my QH mares, percheron mares and my 1 TB mare (OTTB silver deputy lines). I have the stall space and turnouts to do lay up after an injury.
I purchased one at auction last fall and unfortunately had to geld him due to temperment. He hated men and would chase my husband and father out of the pasture (liked women but would go after any man within 50 ft of him but he will make a very pretty hunter). I have worked with OTTB before so I know what I am getting into. If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I have a Grade I placed 11 year old stallion by Southern Halo that is for sale for $2500. He has never covered mares before.

Hopefully this will help

Nope I haven't found one yet. I'm trying to find one that isn't 10 hours + away.

Have you tried doing searches on Equine.com and Equinehits.com? You can be pretty criteria-specific and there appear to be quite a few to pick from. Good luck.
