I'll take a shot on Cobalt Blue. I think he's taken it to the next racing level and his former owner, Merv Griffin died, a circumstance that has worked quite well in the improvement dept. on a number of occassions..

Was Cobalt Blue sold?? If so to whom?? By my understanding he is still owned by the estate of Merv Griffin.

Tairat, he's listed in the Overnite as owned by Saif Aldin bin Saud Al l Saud.

BD, Cobalt Blue won a stake on the Breeders Cup undercard at Monmouth in his last start.

I should know I was there. the fact that I didnt' remember goes to show how plastered I was that friday.

but that I do remmeber actually handicaping that race... not quite the same quality of field. Les Grand Trois at one point was a derby horse. couldn't strech out. but under a mile he's supurb.

that and he didn't run that well at keeneland.

it's going ot be hard not to make one bet for the next 5 days at santa anita.. I really do need to see how the track plays out.

I ran Cobalt Blue's numbers through the TUMB System, and he just didn't feel right. Maybe it was because of the hangnail, though.

TUMB says "Pass."

Les Grande Trois is in a tough spot with the 2 post. Cobalt blue is nice horse but not likely here on cushion track. He seemed to love the slop at Monmouth. Great Hunter...not at 7 furlongs.

I look for one that will rate closely off a quick pace.

so who do you like? I always thought notional had the most talent of all of doug's 3YO's... if he stuck to a mile or less he could be world class with that inexcesls pedigree IMHO. he wuld be my pick in this race if here were there.

wouldn't suprise me if horse greeley won it.

Divine Park is probably the best horse in the race and I'm sure Kiaran McLaughlin has him ready. The questions are the cushion (will he like it?) and the post.

I ran this horse through the TUMB System and he came up with a 62.69. I even gave this horse an extra wiggle, but nada - pass.

How did the HUTI System score this horse?

I'm going with Unusual Suspect and then Desert Code and E Z Warrior. I just can't take Great Hunter or Horse Greeley on their first race back.

I'm trying to think of an addition for the TUTI system so that it can be the TUTI-FRUTI system. :D

Yep, didn't see that one coming... Oh well, that's why I don't put money on it.

C'mon guys, where were the HUTI and TUMB systems on that one???

TUMB has just made dramatic adjustments to the new cushion at Santa Anita. You'll be giving it a "thumbs up" in the days and weeks to come.

HUTI has a diminishing rate of return.

Too much HUTI and your reasoning goes patootee.

As for TUMB, roke will have come up with his own defense.

Fortunately for me, I was rather busy today and didn't get a chance to lay down a bet on Desert Code. (Thank goodness)

I know it is hindsight, which is always 20/20, but I thought Carrilero would have been a sneaky good play. Kinda looking at that one on a jock angle, as Valdivia is pretty good at timing a horses stretch run. I reckoned there would be a hot pace out front that would help him. Never would have had the nerve to bet him.

I gave Johnny Eves a good hard wiggle, but I just didn't feel it, so to speak.
