1. Tale of Ekati, Edgar Prado, 20-1
2. Colonel John, Garrett Gomez, 8-1
3. Da' Tara, Alan Garcia, 8-1
4. Tizbig, Cornelio Velasquez, 30-1
5. Macho Again, Julien Leparoux, 6-1
6. Cool Coal Man, John Velazquez, 15-1
7. Amped, Jorge Chavez, 30-1
8. Harlem Rocker, Eibar Coa, 4-1
9. Mambo in Seattle, Robby Albarado, 5-1
10. Tres Borrachos, Tyler Baze, 15-1
11. Pyro, Shaun Bridgmohan, 7-2
12. Court Vision, Kent Desormeaux, 12-1

I have no clue. None whatsoever.

Tale of Ekati is slow.
Colonel John is a synetics specialist, and not a very good one at that
Da'Tara if pressed will fold like a lawnchair
Macho again just isn't doing it for me
I liked amped becuase he beat older horses already but threw a clunker last race
Harlem Rocker, I don't know, how far was that race he won in canada?
Mambo in seattle doesn't really spark any interest in me either, very beatable
I still have doubts about pyro going a mile and a quarter
Court Vision should have retired last year when he had some hype around him.

If i had to guess right now i'd go with harlem rocker but I would be doing just that. guessing. I really haven't a clue.

Well its a nice field as far as recent Travers go. Like you say no standout but all our mediocre 3yos are in it save Big Brown. Haven't seen the PPs yet but heard good things about the Mambo horse (big price?).

mambo in seattle is going to be about 5-6 to 1, he won the travers prep in which he beat amped.

he's a nice 3YO but nothing to write home about. his win, at least to me, left alot to be desired.

I'm leaning towards harlem rocker but I dont' know if he can get the distance or not.

I haven't seen the PP's either but I have a feeling that Tale of Ekati might make some noise if he doesn't get into any trouble. Might be nice speed up front for him to run at. Finished fourth in his last race, which he needed after getting part of his hoof torn off in the Belmont. Just my 2 cents. The horse certainly likes NY.

Macho Again
Tale of Ekati
Pyro
Colonel John

That's a wild guess/gut reaction, have not officially handicapped yet.

Hi

Looks to be a very be a competitive race. I think I will take a flyer on Mambo In Seattle. Distance should suit.

I'll probley go 3 deep in the pick 4 with Macho Again, Mambo in Seattle & Harlem Rocker maybe add Pyro depending on how I play the other races.

my take: chemical zito against the clean horses from Delmar. without the steroids would this be a no brainer: Colonel John? With steroids: tossup. Anybody have the pps to post?

There are free past performances on the ntra.com Travers race page...

I agree that this is a frustrating race to handicap. It seems like they've all won dinky races, and all failed miserably in other races. I don't really like any of them.

Toss: Tale of Ekati, Colonel John, Da'Tara, Tizbig, Cool Coal Man, Amped, Court Vision

For some reason, Macho Again, Harlem Rocker, and Mambo In Seattle are completely indistinguishable to me. I suspect one of them will win it, but I have no idea which one.

Pyro is the obvious choice, but I've never been a big fan.

So for the price, I'm going to take a chance with Tres Borrachos.

Normally I throw out anything trained by Zito. That's Rule #1 of handicapping. but, then I'm looking at this and they're all trained by Zito. Seriously, I'm wondering if they would have brought those two horses all the way from CA to get beat by this bunch?

it' the flying spegetti monster

don't toss Tale of Ekati, he had an excuse last race and as bad as he has been.. he did come in 4th in the derby and won the wood. he has beaten legit horses before.

if he is hanging way up there in price i'll take a flyer
