I'm flip-flopping Super Ninety Nine (on top) and Flashback (2nd) in the SA Derby.

Which of Baffert's horses??? I've always liked Super Ninety Nine, Flashback will be back to redeem himself, Power Broker might need a race.

I'm with Bill - Super Ninety Nine on top.

Hear The Ghost has been scratched from the race.I think that this race is for Flashback to lose.

Glad to see Krigger's hard work pay off with this horse. He said before the race if you saw Goldencents off the lead with a long hold he'd win. That's exactly what happened...I wish him luck in the Derby. TJ

Goldencents definitely knows how to win races, I thought his race was very good. Nobody has ever really questioned his distance abilities, can he get 10 furlongs?

Hi Cree,
His problem was that he was too eager to go the distance. They've changed their way of training him and Krigger has been working with the horse to get him to relax. Krigger said after the race, he will have no trouble going a mile and a quarter. This Derby is starting to get interesting:>) TJ

Goldencents has always been the best of O'Neill's sophomores in my eyes. He's Had Enough and Know More (what happened to this guy?) were never as good as Goldencents.

I have never followed the Derby Trail as much as I have this year and I've been watching (and half-assed handicapping) the races since 1989. The one thing I keep reminding myself is that often times the Derby winner isn't the best of his class, but rather the best (and luckiest) on the first Saturday in May. So, even though horses like Verrazano look dominating leading up to the Derby, I question whether he will have what it takes on the day. History shows Pletcher horses often don't have what it takes. That being said, I like Revolutionary more than Verrazano, he's shown he's got guts whereas Verrazano seems to have had it a bit easier.

I think Orb is the horse to watch- the breeding, the running style. I'll take him over the big V.

Don't know if it's a good group of horses yet, hard to say, but it's been interesting. Baffert seemed stacked with 3-year-olds...they have weeded themselves out. Govenor Charlie appears to be his best hope. I can't see Flashback getting the 10 furlongs. Den's Legacy is maybe better on grass, although he has been consistently in the money. Super 99 and Shakin It Up don't seem to want more than 8 or 9 furlongs. War Academy is definitely one to watch. Did anyone see the maiden he unleashed yesterday? Declassify ran off with a 6 furlong MSW by 11+ lengths.
