Late scratch Black Onyx. The AE was scratched earlier leaving 19 starters in the Derby.....the small field will make handicapping so much easier:>) TJ

TJ how is Will Take Charge doing, whats his odds?

Seems to have flown right under the radar here.

Is Verranzano really 11/1? Have you gone off him? :)

Hi Dub,
Will Take Charge was trained into the Derby by D. Wayne and he's worked a couple miles in 1:40.80 and 1:41.60 between a couple 5/8ths both in 1:01. I'd say he's doing very well and I will use him under in the gimmicks. His odds were 14-1 last I saw....Verrazano went down to 9-1. Revolutionary is currently favored at 5-1....Orb and Normandy Invasion were 7-1.....so the board will continue to move in spurts till the big money pours in at post time. The bigger the price on Verrazano the more I like him...I prefer a value play and at his current price he is that. TJ

Why was Black Onyx scratched? I was away and didn't get to hear all of the hubbub.

Hi Cree,
They found some swelling in his ankle after his Friday morning gallop. After taking two sets of X-rays, they found a non-displaced chip in his left ankle. Trainer Kelly Breen said it was too early to know if Black Onyx would require surgery or just recover on his own. TJ
