You know, I really like Top Billing and General A Rod (despite the 52 days off) coming into this race. Looks like a good race.

I will be laying a wager on Top Billing even though I think a little more distance would suit him better. He should be rolling late.

Another tough race with the best horse drawing the worst post to get 1 1/16th miles at GP....Top Billing. TJ

I like Commissioner in this race and with his post draw he should be able to gain position early and stalk the pace. I don't know if he can handle Top Billing again, but it looks like there will be some fast early fractions from Wildcat Red. Safe trip to all.

I pretty much agree with TJ. I might include Commissioner and C Zee underneath in some of the exotics. Top Billing just has to overcome the outside post. Should be a good race. Good luck to all.

Hi Bill,
I agree...especially with the inclusion of Commissioner. I should have put him in...but I decided to look for some bombs. Good news is Honor Code is back on target...now working weekly. Hopefully he stays together and Shug will have 2 good shots to win the Derby. Looking forward to his next work, which should come Feb. 26th....if not he could be in trouble again? TJ

Nice race, the speed bias prevailed and the outside post cost Top Billing, top billing:>) Looking forward to the Florida Derby. TJ

Hi DDT,
Considering that post...he ran a winning race. When they come back in the Florida Derby they will be hard pressed to beat him going 1 1/8th miles. TJ

I like Top Billing still, that was a tough track to run on if you weren't winging on the front end. And the post. He had a lot going against him, and he ran well.

I hope they don't ruin Wildcat Red by racing him in the Derby. He doesn't seem like a 10 furlong horse, he is so game, and so fast, but I don't think he's a Derby horse.

General A Rod ran well too, but that speed bias... I don't know.

The speed bias and post position bias at 1 1/16th and 1 1/8th miles at GP is very important when handicapping GP. It's more telling at 1 1/16th miles because of the short run into the first turn. Add to this a shorter stretch run and Top Billing was up against it from the start. There were two points in the race he had to wait. First out of the gate, while trying to save ground as he cautiously worked his way to the rail. He broke so sharp that Rosario actually had to rein him in, in order to get over to the rail. Then again on the backstretch, when he had to be steadied along while looking for racing room on the rail. Watch him when he started his run from inside Almost Famous nearing the 5/16ths pole. Both incidents were due to that bad post and easily cost him the win. Here's the replay. TJ
